The investigations were carried out in 2000-2001 in 12 sites of 5 provinces of the North - Central part of Vietnam in 3 soil types: sandy soil, brown-red soil and hill soil, with various biotopes: human - impacted forest, shrub-grassland, pepper plantation and surrounding garden.
The species composition, the distribution features, the density, the diversity index (H') and the dominant and common groups are analysed.
The research results showed that the vegetation cover with different mixed plants increases the species diversity, the ability of growth and development soil arthropods (including Collembola).
