Bài này xem xét mô tả loài mới Rafetus vietnamensis của Lê Trần Bình và cộng sự công bố trong Tạp chí Công nghệ Sinh học năm 2010. Do tên loài được đặt cho cùng một mẫu vật chuẩn mà trước đây đã được mô tả là loài Rafetus leloii Ha (Hà Đình Đức, 2000), chúng tôi coi R. vietnamensis là tên đồng vật khách quan (objective synonym) của R. leloii. Đồng thời, do Lê Trần Bình và cộng sự không đưa ra được các đặc điểm xác đáng để có thể phân biệt được loài mới R. vietnamensi với loài đã biếtR. swinhoei (Gray, 1873), nên chúng tôi khẳng định rằng hai loài này là một.
